I have experimented with Blakeymort's 4.0.1.1 activator and it successfully permanently activated Win8 Pro and Win8 Pro with Media Center using the keys circulating on the internet. Win8 passed the sfc /scannow test afterwards. To early to say if any problems will arise with the activator but it will be interesting to see if anyone else has tried it.
One post, purporting that an activation exploit exists...... I call BS. Post reported, ban requested. BTW, the goal is to discuss and prove concepts. Not spread warez.
The funny thing is #1. install Windows 8 Pro -No need to Activate it is good for 30 days. using any of the default Windows 8 Pro keys... #2. Request the FREE WMC key from M$. #3. Follow the instructions from M$ included with the KEY #4. You are 100% Activated Retail ... Genuine and never sees or needs any hack-crack-patch.
Snuffy, you are talking about illegal stuff here and this is not welcome. Any kind of leaked keys are out of MDL's range and will not be supported and DISCUSSED! You are certainly right in terms of having a "legal" pro key, that you can upgrade to WMC and be permanent activated as it was supposed by MS but here, the illegal choice is ZERO !! Copy?
I did try with key received from Microsoft and i never got activated! Sadly Microsoft know about this and that method dont wrk anymore :=( I haved tried 3 diff keys and never ever got activated for free
If you had read the forum topics about the Free WMC Key activation, you had known that Microsoft closed that Loophole and that those activation is not more possible. If you like to have WMC running on your Windows 8 Pro, you've to buy an legit Product Key for either 14.99, 39.99 or 60 bucks! After having activated your Windows 8 Pro with your legit key, you could ad WMC! That seems to be the only possible way right now!
Bill Gates once said that, if someone uses pirated software it better be our software, they will be used to out software and when they can afford one they will buy one. I guess there are always people who cannot afford things and if Microsoft does not give them their software for free, they are going to switch to other free alternatives, which is bad for Microsoft because they will be out of their ecosystem and into Linux. If Microsoft is smart then they are going to leave some activation method. The offline KMS activation can be allowed because majority of Microsoft lovers are using this method.
first time posting here so please be gentle... Here is what i did to activate my Windows 8 Pro with Media Center Installed win 8 pro x64 Use KMS to activate Used my wmc key. Installed properly but after the reboot sequence, it locked me out. So i had to refresh my PC. Refreshed and ended up with a non activated win8 pro wmc. Tried activating online but there was an error. it gave me the option of activating by phone. I followed the instructions and viola. The screenshot tells the whole story
Actually the people in PCBeta had been discussing about phone-activate WMC for some time(i.e. after MS blocked the "normal" channel).
Did you forget to slmgr -ckms so that M$ would let you upgrade properly.... kms unless it is genuine M$ blocks. updates & upgrades...
I used my legit key to activte pro and then free WMC received from MS in January..No problems with activation...
