Dumbing down the OS for everyone will be a big mistake that MS will realize sooner or later...The UI is nice, but it is WRONG for non-touch devices...who wants to use arrow keys just to change to a new program? Admit that Immersive only works on touchscreens, all other devices looks stupid with this huge icon interface...there is no point...they should have kept MoSh as the default for tablets etc...only... And yes it does look like wp7, they even said it themselves at D9, so don't try and make out like it is some new UI, its NOT, I don't care what you say... They should have used an improved W7 UI as the default UI, and left the immersive UI with its playschool icons to tablets only...it doesn't make sense...
[speculation] Many home PCs are coming with touch screen monitors, some with a "all in monitor" design, so it's not just tablets and phones that have touch screens. Many will not have a monitor like that though. So here's what I suspect.... When Windows 8 is released it will have several configuration options for the various devices. Windows 7 already has this feature, more or less. If you have a touch screen monitor/device then the new UI/dual UI will be default. If no touch device is installed it will just be the 7+ desktop (as seen already in alpha builds and demoed at the conference) with the new/touch UI not enabled by default. [/speculation]
...you don't seem to know that you can deactivate it?... Comn.. you are crying without even knowing what windows 8 really is, really... :\
what version is everyone going back to assuming you were curious albeit foolish as I, to use a "win8" build as your main os?
Yes, if you use the Server 2008 Evaluation key. This means that the activation is valid until 140 days. But the timebomb deactivates the system on 02 July.
