Windows 8 [before posting, read first post!]

I think Ribbon is awful , horrible etc.

Now i have two questions... (1) Will Windows 8 and Windows Live wave 5 be RTM'd together?? If not, then is there a possibility that Windows 8 is being developed keeping in mind Live wave 5?? (2) How many and what new innovative features can MS possibly add to Windows 8 so that it can convince users from migrating/upgrading to Win 8 from a rock solid, tried n tested Windows 7(after all, from the practical point of view, no one is going to pay only for a new Windows with a new UI!)??

In my opinion, Windows 8 is definitely MS's riskiest bet ever!!! We'll better wait and see what goodies Windows 8 bring...

And... I'm patient enough to wait for the public beta Until then, let the talented MS developers and the talented MS UI creators n designers do their job...

 

Just because that ribbon takes up some extra space doesn't mean its horrible... Why don't you look at its positives... That ribbon will sureshot make things better and easier for all of us... And by the way, let the fruit ripe... You can't judge an unriped fruit's taste! It will always taste sour!!

 

Back in 2007 I thought so, too... But in fact, it's not bad:

1) For old-school guys like you, there are addons for Office 2007 to get the old menu. I bet, there will be addons or workarounds for Windows 8 Explorer to get the old style.
2) The Ribbons in Office 2010 are customizable. So you could change the Ribbons, for example to be more like the old style. There is a chance, that the Windows 8 Ribbons will be customizable, too.

 

I would like to see tabs like qttabbar provide instead of ribbon.
