Same here, I'm now running x64 win7 sp1 since a week and I've found my vm's to be much more responsive compared to when I was running x86. I'm never switching back to x86 anymore, so unless a x64 build leaks it stays locked up in a vm here. And the few features that are added in this build don't make an install worth it.
You can! I didn't mean you can't install it like any other Windows. The point I was making is, as soon as you access or make changes to any other partition or drive, you run the disk of data loss (in extreme cases). Remember data is written to NTFS partitions all the time, from you loading a folder with images (makes a thumbnail file), access a file as it keeps 'last accessed' info (unless turned off), folder view details, among other things. All of these make changes to the drive, then you have to remember the USN journal file. You also have to think of crashes, and how they can affect drive info. Basically, to be safe, unless you're a dedicated tester using it on a non-production machine (basically just using it on a second computer), the only thing you can do is look at the interface and new control panels etc, which is pointless since there are screenshots showing this! You also have to remember this version is from September last year, which is at least 2 years before it goes Gold, which is a LOT of bug fixing, interface changes, etc., and it has actually changed since September 2010 and now, so you're not even seeing it how you have read in articles, unless the articles was for build 7850 or before... When it gets to the latter beta stages, its still not safe, but a lot safer and makes more sense than an alpha build.
