This forum has been a great source of reading but i have to admit that I am totally confused now. I am hoping someone can walk me through a somewhat simple process. Here is my setup: I have a brand new Lenovo Z500 Touch with windows 8 core pre-installed. It came with a 1TB 5400 rpm HDD. I have ordered a Samsung 840 Pro 256gb SSD to install and I will use the HDD as a secondary drive for storage. I want to do a clean install on the new SSD and avoid all the bloatware. I realize that my Windows 8 key is in my bios and am wondering what the best way to do this would be. Also wondering if it's possible to go to Windows Pro in the process. Thanks
My next question is where do I find the correct ISO for this process? I am not a member of MSDN nor do I really want to do it with a torrent if I don't have to. Lenovo doesn't ship with any discs and I don't want to restore as it would defeat the purpose of a clean install.
Paul, Thank you for the link. I have a question on that ISO...it says PRO and I have core. Here is what I get when I run PID checker: Product Key : Validity : Valid Product ID : 00179-60598-56502-AAOEM Activation ID : Edition Type : Core Description : Win 8 RTM Core OEMM Edition ID : X18-15561 Key Type : OEMM Crypto ID : 1796
you should be fine with this as your key in the bios decides which version Core or Pro will be installed. Simply run the setup > done
Put this in the google search box - the quotes are important ... Code: "en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440.iso" "index of"
