You will be fine. I do not have this ISO- Honestly, you should download the normal ISO's. It should work even without replacing the install.wim, chances are they have added a lot of bloatware. If you still would like to do this, you need a ISO editor. If you have one, just open the ISO, navigate to the sources folder where install.wim is located, then drag in the new install.wim and if will overwrite the install.wim in the ISO. Save it and your good to go. OR You can do it as you suggest with diskpart.
yeah I know that (Actually I also hate this manufacturer scrap), but I didn't post that thinking may be he has create his own custom install.wim using dism
I have installed this Win 8 OEM dvd and as of now I haven't seen a single thing that would have been added by dell.
I have 2 options here - 1. I am downloading windows 8 : Core at the moment which is 90% done. But my default windows is "Win 8 RTM CoreSingleLanguage OEMM". Will I be able to use this core edition, convert it to "Core Single Language" with xdelta and then replace install.wim and then install it ? 2. OR should I download CoreSingleLanguage only and use that and replace install.wim ? If 1st option works, great because I have spent 6 hours to download it Please advice.
Fortunately I have downloaded this iso itself with hash "1CE53AD5F60419CF04A715CF3233F247E48BEEC4" I am now patching it and then will see how it goes.
try this Code: DISM.exe /Image:c:\offline /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth to check image health while Code: DISM.exe /Image:c:\offline /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth for restoring health
I have it saved on another pc in a folder. This install.wim is lenovo's which I am talking about. I want to check its healthy before I replace it.
if you are talking about the image provided by Lenovo, then it should be fine, no need to run a check on it. secondly if it is provided by Lenovo, best go for the iso in main post than using any recovery image
My laptop was formatted fully and I recovered this install.wim using easeus data recovery wizard. I want to use this install.wim even though it has bloatware. Call me stupid, lol. On to the main question - how do i check it ?
the first command will do your job. Secondly I didn't just suggest you to go for fresh install b'coz it contains bloatware but also sometimes these manufacturers edit some files causing problems. One example that I can state is my uncles Lenovo laptop which couldn't install vista sp1 even after going for complete recovery to factory (I know after all it was stupid vista but...).
If install.wim is saved on desktop what commands should I use ? To scan and restore ? Its confirmed that its corrupt because I can install windows without replacing it. And if I replace and use lenovo's install.wim it gives error, Something like, install.wim could not be found.
Too bad, I am unable to use lenovo's install.wim When I start the windows installation it says -- "Windows cannot open the required file D:\Sources\install.wim. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8007000B" If I use default install.wim installation goes through. Anybody knows whats going on ?
Any decent mirrors for this which aren't limited or require premium accounts? If someone could torrent this and provide a magnet link would be great!
@valued17 You need to apply Lenovo's install.wim through dism. Its not intended to be used with Windows Setup.
