I used to work for a pc wholesaler. The images Microsoft provided us were .img files. We made a few mods & created .iso files which we then sent to a Microsoft approved duplicator to make our own oem dvd's. There is no obligation for us to provide the media to the enduser. They pay for the licensing... COA...
No, and yes? IDK. I know that when making/capturing a Install.wim file it complains about the file being to large and gives the optiion to ignore file size. Since you recovered the image I would say its shot . Plus, like I said, It would be best if you just used the ISO/SVF conversion. Why not just try it? Cannot hurt anything.
