don't know if you noticed, the pidgenx.dll struct from CP is different than the DP

 

I hope it will be easy to activate once there is a tool.

 

I would think with 999 re-arms that an automatic re-arm script would work for most anyone.

I am sure a new OS will be along before that many re-arm is used up...

There are also two pkeyconfig files in CP, namely pkeyconfig.xrm-ms and pkeyconfig-csvlk.xrm-ms.

 

there were 2 as well in the DP

 

yup i am using the pidgenx.dll from 8102 and the xrm-ms files from 8250

Release Preview has KMS capability with a KMS Key in products.ini (listed as a gvlk or something like that)

 

This might have something to do with the fact that neither the RP nor the CP have grace periods on their activation, and re-arming doesn't do anything.

 

Dumb question: As I'm only just leaving XP and my new hardware comes with pre-installed OSes, this is an "academic" exercise for me.

Can someone perform a translation for "person who just walked in from the street" of CP, DP, KMS, DM, RP and "Pkeyconfig for CP"?

I note that the instructions given for the same issue with Win7 can be basically understood without having yet seen a Windows 7 disc. If there are instructions here for re-arming Win8, my sleep-deprived brain cannot interpret them.

 

Don't feel bad. I've been around for a little while, and I have no clue as to what that stuff means either.
