I wonder if you could rearm it for another 90 days like the previous Windows 7 Enterprise and with the registry hack for 360 days.....
I don't believe this could be done, because this time everything has to be validated with MS on-line. How do you come to the conclusion that it's working? Does it give you a further extension of expiry?
So... is there anything stopping someone from just taking the evaluation, installing and activating it, reinstall and repeat (within 90 days)? And this lasts up until August next year? And functions as a normal copy of Windows 8 (receives Windows Updates; programs see it as Windows 8, etc)? If so, this seems pretty awesome.
Hi, yesterday i finished downloaded windows 8 enterprise x64 final from msdn and re-install my PC using upgrade option, not clean install. And, after i checked on my computer - properties, my windows 8 isn't activated. Can someone help me?
You could do this with win 7 enter. evaluation. Why worry till Aug 2013. The 7 enterprise eval has been there since 2009 and last checked was there till recently. Only thing is that last checked, it still downloaded RTM and not win 7 enter with sp1.
I thought I saw the August 2013 date mentioned by someone as the final date for the evaluation to be available.
So big deal. First, it is 1 year away and second, what makes you think that after that eval/activation will no longer be an option. Just enjoy for 1 year for a start.
The trial key(and activation) is bundled and recorded with your MS a/c; no matter how many times you re-install and re-activate, expiration will be the same, i.e. 90 days after first activation. Edit: Also, some guys had reported yesterday that "re-arm works for another 90 days". Well, this is meaningless, because yesterday everybody gets a 90-day grace, so if these guys made a re-arm and found that they have a 90-day grace, they were just seeing what they already had.
There is no such thing as a trial key for Enterprise Evaluation... And NO, activation is neither bundled nor recorded with your MS account!! MS account is only needed so that you can download the ISO. Now since direct links are available, all one needs to do is: just download, install & activate!! And as regards to rearming, yes it works!! I installed the ENT EVAL at 11:50 p.m IST on 15th Aug, this morning when the desktop watermark was showing 'Windows License valid for 89 days', I rearmed and it worked!! The Evaluation is time-based(minutes) not days based. When someone rearms, the Windows License will say 'expired'. Thereafter, just activate again, and you'll get 129600 minutes (90 days). So the answer to "is there anything stopping someone from just taking the evaluation, installing and activating it, reinstall and repeat (within 90 days)? And this lasts up until August next year? And functions as a normal copy of Windows 8 (receives Windows Updates; programs see it as Windows 8, etc)?" is: NO, THERE'S NOTHING STOPPING!! AND YOU CAN REARM AND USE WINDOWS 8 ENTERPRISE EVALUATION FOR 180 days!!
I care two hoots about rearm. I can easily reinstall every 85-90 days. I have a Technet Std win 8 pro and this gives me access to Enterprise too. Only thing that surprised me was how quick MS was to offer the evaluation.
I thought so that you could rearm for another 90 days x2, if the registry hack to reset the rearm to 0 will work - get another 180 days = 360 days
hello there , you said in this page that evaluation copy does not have a key , i just want you to recheck using the following tools if it has any key embedded into it or not , if you get any key do share with us ... link to tools sevenforums Dot com/tutorials/153626-product-key-number-windows-7-find-see.html or you can use this script Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") MsgBox ConvertToKey(WshShell.RegRead("HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\DigitalProductId")) Function ConvertToKey(Key) Const KeyOffset = 52 i = 28 Chars = "BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY2346789" Do Cur = 0 x = 14 Do Cur = Cur * 256 Cur = Key(x + KeyOffset) + Cur Key(x + KeyOffset) = (Cur \ 24) And 255 Cur = Cur Mod 24 x = x -1 Loop While x >= 0 i = i -1 KeyOutput = Mid(Chars, Cur + 1, 1) & KeyOutput If (((29 - i) Mod 6) = 0) And (i <> -1) Then i = i -1 KeyOutput = "-" & KeyOutput End If Loop While i >= 0 ConvertToKey = KeyOutput End Function save it as .vbs thanks that's all .
Seems the PCBeta guy posted some mis-info's; I shall try to install the Eval and see what it is really like; meantime can you post your partial key to see if it is universal? Tks.
the registry key is there for rearm: Code: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform] "SkipRearm"=dword:00000000 simply change it to 00000001 to reset like a new install - will have to test if it works for 360 days have to run regedit as admin!
