Can anyone help me find windows 8 drivers for an asus x53e laptop. Need the audio driver (because my audio sounds really bad at the moment) , the intel drivers and the touchpad driver. I can only find windows 7 versions on the offficial asus site. How about all those asus software utilities. Were can I find windows 8 versions of them?
Did you try any of the windows 7 versions ? win7 drivers work fine with me in win8 or did you try checking compatibility center for windows 8 to see if youre device is supported ?
No, I assumed they didn't work. But if you say they work, I'll try install them. thanks edit: the windows 7 touch pad driver worked so I assume the others will work too
Are you sure about that? Because I read on the web that Microsoft are trying to stop start button and Windows 7 start menu hacks. And so I am worried that Classic Shell,Vi Start,Start Menu 7 and other software. That brings back both the start button and Windows 7 start menu won't work in the final version of Windows 8. But you said that it does. So that is a good sign. Andrea Borman.
ok, just like previous builds, Windows Update won't talk to my WSUS 3.2 running on 2008R2. So WSUS and probably a lot of other server side stuff will get an update soon. WSUS does have "Windows 8" and "Windows Server 2012" in the products list but I guess that isn't enough. It installed just fine as a virtual machine on my Hyper-V 2008R2 without crashing the host, so that's a good thing. Edit: I bit the bullet and built a Server 2012 running WSUS, Win8 and everything else update from it just fine.
First, sorry for the double post. Second, how do you manage to install it in VMware Workstation 8.0.4? My problem: everyting went well ecept after install success, reboot getting Device ready and it stuck at 75%
can you explain a bit more? so you have the startmenu.. like in win7? or is it a third party startmenu? i found that they all lack some features. with some you can´t even move entrys, sort and organize your startmenu. can you boot directly to desktop and not into that metro crap? i tried with the consumer preview but the trick that worked with the older developer preview did not work anymore.
As mentioned in my original post, VMware workstation 8.0.4 is installed on Windows 7 and I installed Win 8 Enterprise N under a virtual machine. Now if you installing under a VM, just kill/poweroff the VM and start again.
Even though you can't change the wallpaper or any other personal setting, it did re-sync my wallpaper and color preferences from what I had in the Customer Preview.
classic shell is the closest you can get to the original unless you wanna try transplant older explorer.exe to win8 and use it as shell there is a thread here in the forum
Tried to find when Windows gonna starts showing "Windows needs to be activated" or similar message but couldn't. More info in the first post.
