Will the product key provided in the win 8 pro upgrade version be able to activate win 8 on a fresh install using the win 8 pro builder disc? Basically is the key swappable between the upgrade and builder discs to still activate win 8?

a few question on the windows 8 upgrade

    - i have a legal licence windows xp home, from an old laptop, i think it's an oem licence so i think i never activated the windows xp on this licence. Does oem licence need to be activated? I don't have the cd to install windows xp, can i use this licence for another computer? (for my main computer, not this old laptop).
    - on my main computer i have a not legal install of windows 7 ultimate with daz loader

how can i use the upgrade of windows 8? Can i juste upgrade my windows 7? When i'll go on the microsoft website to buy the windows 8 upgrade, what will be asked? Can i just enter the number of my windows xp home licence, and download, install, and activate my windows 8?

Do i need to install a windows xp home on my main computer, and activate this windows xp with the number of the windows xp home licence of my old laptop?

Sorry, this is lots of question, but really, i find this whole activation system quite annoying.

    Nope..dont work like that..

Firstly, these are Metro Apps. THey cant be pinned. The system needs to read them on its own... sigh..

After I do this, would the only thing I have to do is register Win8 with a Pro key then? This also keeps all apps and their data (like saved games) right?

Edit: I did the above, used my Win 8 Pro disc to upgrade and then used the Pro key and everything turned out fine.

No idea if i have posted this in the correct section , but is there a chance there will be a DAZ Loader for Windows 8?
I''ve managed to get 8 running on a laptop with a Celeron 1,5 Ghz and 1 Ghz of RAM.
Only i need the SG3 Unichrome drivers for it ; anyone an idea for this?

    Here's a Q:

If I purchased the WMC product key from Microsoft, am I able to reuse the same key if I ever need to reinstall Windows 8 Pro?

    Related Q:
Can the same key be reused on a different Windows 8 Pro machine? (How does Microsoft know?)

there are two steps to upgrade to win 8

    1. register for upgrade at MS site and give Email address. give make model of comp - just formality . I gave make ' other ' , model 'Intel ' , retailer ' Nehru Place ' . Important date you bought.
any date after June 2012 , any date in july, Aug, Sep , oct is ok.

    2. check you Email . you will get a promo code. note it down, down load the updater from Ms Link.you must Install win 7 pro or ult on the comp when you run the updater.

Then run the win 8 Updater.

Updater runs on your comp and checks win 7 version , and apps and gives compatibility report. and then you can proceed to download , pay for upgrade , enter promo code get discount ,

get a thank you Email from MS with License Number and updater then downloads the win 8 . 64 bit if you have 64 bit win 7 running, 32 bit if you have 32 bit win 7 running.

After download , updater offers a choice to install , save on media USB or ISO . It crates a ISO file and saves on the HD. you need to burn a dvd . and install . or let the updater do it.

i Suggest make image of you current OS Partition and then Install win 8 , so you can revert back to win 7.

updater only checks win versio 32 bit or 64 bit and not when win 7 was installed or how or probably if activated !!

you can install win 7 pro / ult and run updater right away and download win 8 pro.

I installed from dvd later , first thing installer asked for the 25 char key . you just enter the 25 chars without the 4 dashes in between .

after install you have the familiar notice to activate via internet or phone.

This is where Ms will Tie your License to your comp !.

I did not like win 8 interface . it needs lot of getting used to for me . I did not activate, just tried for two days . win 8 did not have driver for Realtek chip , so no sound. No window media player, No driver for my MTS blaze modem , i could not connect to internet . just install apps to check if they work .
