If I am not mistaken, Windows 8 (x64) - DVD (English) contains 3 indexes: Core, Pro and Pro with Media Center. As for Windows 8 Pro VL (x64) - DVD (English), I believe that it has Core and Pro as well. By the look of it, it seems that Windows 8 Pro VL iso is just a subset of Windows 8 (x64). In other words, having Windows 8 (x64) is superior, and thus it is not necessary to have Windows 8 Pro VL (x64). Is it wrong for me to assume such belief? Please correct my mistake, if I have said anything wrong.
The limitations to using a non-activated copy of Windows 8 (after installing with a volume license) is a watermark that appears every few hours and the inability to make certain aesthetic changes; you will still receive Windows Updates, however, and you can delete the watermark using Woot332's Patched Watermark Remover. I see no foreseeable problems with this course of action as I believe you should be able to switch to your genuine key once you buy it.
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I'm from Argentina and I have learned a lot by reading your posts, my first intervention is to ask because I've activated telephone version 8 and I do not know if you can add features to make it Pro without Redmond sent me the motivation to change the key for a new and if you know any solution for the case of that happening, thanks. - Excuse my English because I'm using the Google translator.
Hi everyone I have a (maybe stupid) question. Where is the "About windows" button/option in windows 8? How can I access it except "winver" from CMD? Thanks edit: found out. Should go to windows explorer -> View menu -> Options -> View tab -> select: Always show Menus. Then you'll have the menu in system properties: Help -> About Windows
I installed Windows 8 rtm for the first time today. I have to say that the preinstalled metro apps are absolutely useless to me, as I do not care about stocks or "social" features. I can access my email through my own browser, and I don't need a full screen image viewer either. Apps from the store I know aren't complete, but I'm doubtful that they would be of any actual use seeing I have a full desktop side that can have applications with more control. However, my question is this: I installed Windows 8 without a key, but I have not gotten any prompts to activate it. There is a watermark however. I don't see any indication of a 30 day grace period. What does this mean? I haven't noticed any reduced functionality, so what's the point in activating? EDIT: btw does anyone know how much space metro takes up? I'd like to remove this stupidity quickly. Classic shell is the only reason why I'm staying with Windows 8. EDIT2: So I found about 500mb worth of crap in program files/windowsapps. Deleted that and now the metro apps don't work anymore =) The next step is removing things from the registry, and the ui which holds those silly icons.
i have one question. leaked builds of windows 8 showed user picture tile in taskbar near the clock. did microsoft remove this feature from windows 8 rtm?
All you had to do was right-click on the metro app you want to remove and click "uninstall" on the bar at the bottom of the screen. Why do People go to such extents to completely screw up a perfectly good windows install...
uninstalling the metro app by right clicking doesn't actually remove it. It just hides it. I want my hdd space back
is there a way to put a background image on the login screen (where you enter your password) which is also the welcome screen and shutdown screen. Like on Windows 7 ? I have disabled the lock screen which is useless on a desktop pc.
I don't think you understand. I HAVE my WIndows activated, and all options are enabled but i don't speak about LOCK screen but LOGIN screen wich is not the same on windows 8.
Thanks for tip Does this trick work with Windows 8 Enterprise? What about Enterprise related features present in new Windows 8 Professional? Will they continue to work?
