Installed 8 yesterday and have to say even with getting use to all the changes I am very happy with the performance. Install went perfect and have had one freeze up. Considering I have it on an old dell 4600 with 2 gigs ram and a GeForce 128 card. I can run video full screen and it looks perfect. With xp and 7 this was impossible. Have not had it on here long enough to really make a choice about it being better than 7 but in many ways I like it better so far. The new ui was a hard pill to swallow but I am learning to navigate around and finding many things easier.
There wasn't any problem at my first day, but i'm getting Blue Screen when starting Windows. There is no problem when restarting PC. BTW, error code is BAD POOL CALLER, any ideas?
That answered a lot of questions. One it didn't is why I can watch videos if I go to the desktop and bring up ie. If I bring it up on the start menu tile it wont. Am I being stupid and not seeing something or are they different.
I tried that. didn't work for me. it just shrank the app size and can only move it left or right like it wants to go to a different moniter. -edit: today it actually goes all the way down now.. odd
Indeed you can; however, you have to reinstall your applications (basically, the same as an upgrade from Vista or even XP). In fact, speaking of upgrades from XP, the C2R-based installer is a slick piece of work. It's small enough to fit on a floppy-disk (or can be e-mailed) - all the target computer needs (other than to have backed up their applications) is to meet the system requirements otherwise. (That was what I used to upgrade my DP partition.)
i installed the consumer preview, everything is fine, it seems i almost got used to the new interface but is it possible to make the windows show the selection of users at startup ? it automatically chooses the recent user that was logged in and if it has no password then i have to wait for it to load and then switch the user, what takes time ;/
