I got it. I had to right click on the bottom of the screen and it popped up the bottom menu to change a city. Thanks. This new UI is a bit difficult and it will take some time to get used to. I noticed that right clicking will bring up a bottom menu bar when in certain programs. I tried Sudoku and when I right clicked it popped up the menu bar at the bottom.
this will be splendid for tablets but is pants for a proper machine installed the developer preview this morning and i am not that impressed. i think Metro will be great for the Tablet/toy market but for proper users this is dreadfull it will take a lot of getting used to having no start menu and it seems what used to take me a couple of clicks now takes me half a dozen cant find a way to close the metro apps once they are opened if you look in task manager it says they are suspended after a while ? why not put an x in the corner so we can just close them ? only way i could find to shut down / reboot is to hit ctrl alt del and shut down that way ! i was very impressed with the earlier builds and had been running 7989 happily for a while but so far i am finding this build very counter productive as far as normal pc use goes i look forward to windows 8 tablets and will buy one once they are released but need an os i can do my day to day stuff on too anybody else having these issues ?
To access the Shutdown/Restart you hover your mouse to the the winlogo corner and click Settings, then you see a Power Icon on your Right side (definitly not really obvious, Settings? Shutdown? how is that connected!!!, not alot of persons will probably find the it out right away)
I can't seem to change the default web browser opened when I click links in for example Skype, anyone else experiencing similar issues?
Figured out how to RDP into my server. You have to first create a local user account, run and configure remote desktop to remember credentials and then finally switch to a live account for local logon.
I've searched for that restart option for like an hour You'll also have to hover to the most bottom-left pixel you see (not just the logo), then the 'mini start menu' pops up ...
When I open an immersive app on w8 I can't turn it off, I don't find a way to turn them off, is there a way to turn those apps off?
They automatically suspend after a short amount of time or when you switch to Desktop (it's bugged it seems, not all win8 apps suspend correctly cause of their high cpu useage or other problem) and after being ignored for longer they are supposed to automaticly close (so i heard.., didnt see that happen) It's just kinda nasty right now cause these suspended apps can't be accessed with swiping but you have to click the Tiles again, so its just wasting your memory for nothing...
I was fiddling around with the RSS app and noticed there doesn't seem to be a way of editing it .. or other tiles , short of deleting and moving them around! In fact I accidentally deleted the RSS tile in the process , now I can't seem to add it back in again! ... Any ideas about this adding/editing of these tiles folks??
I didnt look into this app, but all Win8 Apps have their Settings in the new Settings pane and the Commands in the Bar on the bottom The bottom bar (without touch) is accessed via rightclicking into free space, Settings pane is the mouseover when you go into the corner of the start button (not clicking it)
Yeah .. I still don't see any way of adding a new tile , and then editing it's settings! Ah well .. it's early days , perhaps it's not complete in this build. I must say I'd like this *Metro* thing a bit better if you could add a glassy or translucent look to it somehow ..
If you wanna to add new title in that metro here is my way...windows+f find what you want then exists option pin...
So I found how to close that metro or this kind off stuff: I push the windows button and the system come back to desktop...few refresh with right button of mouse and ready!
