maybe format the drive with win7 and then install windows 8. you want to install it on your local harddrive?
W7 on 1 partition currently. Created a separate partition to install W8 DP on, ran W8 DP tp install and get the error message I posted previously."Attempted write to readonly memory" cannot continue. Could I have possibly have corrupted files in the .iso that I burned?
My friend installed WDP on his netbook and it run smoothly. Then he installed CCleaner and run the program, afterwards he returned to the start screen and noticed that the control panel app was gone and nowhere to find. Lesson: Never run an application in this build if ur not sure to avoid the same incident.
sorry i was not clear, not format your win7 installation, but use the win7 dvd to format the partition, where you want to install win8. and then try again the win8 dvd
OK i will try that but using Easeus Partition Manager previously, that partition was NTFS Logical. Guess I will wipe partition and try with my W7 DVD to format as you suggest and try W8 install again.
@canouma maybe you know why I will not unlock the Metro. They work only 3 icons (Internet Explorer, Desktop and Control Panel). All other icons are locked and all those games. The newly installed I have 5x ver. x86 and x64, but without success. I have a ThinkCentre M90p. I also do samostonjo partition and install so that I had up and Wi8 Win7. Everything worked OK, only the Metro I had to respond. The same installation is via VMware. Everything works OK except the Metro. I am very disappointed. Please help. 1. Marked in the green box is unlocked. 2. Marked in red frame is locked. Store not locked. Windows is activated.
Jaycee13 Never clean " Start Menu Shortcuts " in CCleaner First see if you can view the " Hidden Folders " in explorer Search for " Control Panel " there are 2 : one normal and one hidden Copy the hidden one in C:/Program Data/Microsoft/Windows/Start Menu/Programs And the Control Panel is back in De Metro start screen Have a nice day
That didn't work either (Trying to set up a dual boot with W7) After choosing what partition I want to install W8DP on, and at the beginning of expanding windows files process,(1%) completed....,my PC shuts down and re-boots Never had this much prob installing any kind of OS ...until now with W8. Anyone had a similar prob with install process?? Any suggestions??
1. Did you format WDP partition from win7? 2. Mount WDP ISO from win7? 3. Run WDP setup.exe from sources folder?
On #1 yes on #2 and #3 no. Ran install from a DVD I burned from the .iso just as I have done for every other OS i have installed over the years.
Thanks !!!! Ill give USB a try when time permits Hope that will work. I appreciate your helpful replies
