Thanks Alex. Will give it a try. I have no problem installing WDP into my ancient Dell Inspiron 600M laptop. Acer is a newer laptop and I could not figure it out why such a problem. If your suggestion does not work, it must be a unique computer-specific situation. Meaning my Acer laptop is NFG.
Why are they even developing windows 8?it is just windows 98 with a decent looking interface.Lets all boycott windows 8 until Microsoft decides to create a decent operating system such as windows xp was.DOWN WITH WINDOWS 8 IT IS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meh.. There is hardly any "metro" in this Build, a Startscreen + Search, Devices, Share, Settings pane, Small Metro control panel and IE10 Metro... WOW!!!! let's all rage, because there is a new Startmenu you are not going to use if you don't like it.. You are basicly raging only because of the damn Startscreen and completely ignoring the changes on the Desktop and you shouldnt even need to rage about the Startsceen. Please realize that the new Metro experience is mainly aimed for Touchscreens but it's side effect is that it can be used "just as fine" with a mouse (and honestly.. it can, needs some tweaking from MS but it's fine), yeah sure as Pro you are not going to benefit from this Interface cause of it's lacking Real multi tasking, but don't force your own damn opinion on the other million users who are going to buy Slates/Convertibles with windows on it, cause it's finally a Windows that can be really awesome on a Tablet, without even loosing anything you could do on your PC. The Startscreen usability should still change a little in Beta, as currently we all know the "flaws" of it, but that one flaw "you have to move your mouse further" isn't exactly Valid, your most used Programs are pinned to your Taskbar, everything else that you will start often can be just moved to the Start of the Startscreen, but currently the moving is hm not sure.. i would like to move more tiles at the same time which is easy to solve, make multiple tiles selectable so you can move em. Anyway, you shouldn't hate so much and for now you should just Ignore the Startsceen, there are a lot of Pros and other ppl (companies) who aren't going to have much use for it or are just old fashioned, after all there are still people preferring XP over 7 (lol)
@Alex, sorry to inform you that it did not work. It's the darn Acer machine that is "NFG". I had also serious trouble in installing Ubuntu. At one time, I could not install Linux Ubuntu at all. Grazie, Doctore!
Prego, you're welcome.... the last try will be(if you have a external HD, without power supply, autoalimented i mean..) put it on you Acer and go for it... Maybe it work....
I have another thought from your suggestion. I will back up Windows 8 WDP from my Dell Laptop using Acronis Plus Pack and then recover to Acer laptop. Acronis Plus Pack allows you to restore Windows to dissimilar hardware. In theory, it should work for Windows XP, Vista & 7. Windows 8 WDP, I am not sure. I will let you know and also to share with other interested party.
