Requirements for Hyper-V (Windows 8 clients) - for hosts - support for second-level address translation (SLAT) in addition to VT-x/AMD-V support (this restricts client support to the Intel second-generation i-series (LGA1155/2011) and AMD FX-series (FM-1)). For Windows 8 Server, only VT-x/AMD-V support is required. Unlike Virtual PC, Hyper-V will support (on supported clients) any OS supported by Hyper-V in Windows Server 2008R2 (sensible, as it is the same product) I've tested Hyper-V in 8 Server (no i5 yet, so I can't test it in 8 client) and while I have been able to build VMs, virtual switches have me stumped.
Copying regular files in Windows 7 and copying to Nokia phone in Windows 7 is different, too. So I guess they haven't changed it yet.
At Build they might thought that WCP/Beta would be released at CES and so they need an update now because 12 days are too less time for upgrading, maybe WCP expires in January, too. It would be interesting if the update could be modified to postpone the expiration date of WDP/WCP
I read somewhere that WCP expires mid-February Anyway, I rebooted and Windows reactivated. I rebooted again and now winver.exe changed
If my memory serves me correctly, WCP will expire 1 day after the new WDP expire dates, so Jan. 16, 2013 for WCP. MS prob wants you on RC or RTM by then. Death to the "Preview"'s and on to more accustomed release types.
So we've now been locked out of every interesting Windows 8 thread, and are stuck with this boring general discussions thread. /Sigh.
