So you're gonna buy the Pro version of Windows 8. Is the Pro version equal to Windows 7's Pro version? I bought the Pro version of Windows 7 when it came out but found myself upgrading to Ultimate in the end. I'm guessing Windows 8 Enterprise -> Windows 7 Ultimate. The edition changes makes me confused every time.
Just finished downloading x86 version. Will test it out on my Dell mini with the modded touch screen interface.
So anyone know how to get the map app to work in Enterprise-N? I have a bootable usb of the non-N version if I can't get it working soon.
Yes, the 'N' stands for neutered (features cut). It's actually sneaky of Microsoft to cut some components, for example EVR, since originally EVR actually came with NET framework, not Media Centre. It also wasn't a file relating to the court case. It is a file needed by modern media players though, hence facilitating the need to install WMP, getting around the original court issue!
Thank you for your reply. Assuming that I do not need to use any apps in Metro Start Screen, I do not have to use MS account to sign in, right? I know that my intention somewhat defeats the purpose of using Windows 8, but Desktop is all I need.
No you're not gonna need to use an MS account to sign in as far as I know. I'm not gonna use Windows 8 for apps only desktop and gaming. Heck I'm gonna be offline all the time on my gaming rig. I'll only use Windows 8 for the speed improvements.
for me 8 is the best OS so far....the speed is very fast! very snappy expereince even from a harddisk (seems like installed on SSD)
