Microsoft has removed the entry in the Win 8 RTM. You can change this in the registry. www .deskmodder.de/blog/2012/08/09/hybridboot-schnellstart-deaktivieren-aktivieren-windows-8-rtm/ Sorry i can't post the google-translated link not enough posts.
win 8 has given too much attention for touch users to compete with mac !! they kind of abandon desktop users !!
What about Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings? There is a setting there called Turn on fast startup is that it? EDIT: Damn to late again...
Well, too bad, guess you have to live with it. I think with fast-startup win8 goes into hib instead of total shutdown, and it causes problems if I switch on and choose to boot win7.
there is a easy way to change start screen background jus go to windows folder in your drive then to folder web followd by wallpaper..choose the wallpaper you wanna use, click on it so it opens up, when it open click right mouse a menu will come up in the left corner you will see a button set as- choose there as lockscreen..now your lockscreen paper has change.. this will only work if you set up local account..will not work if you have set a microsoft account...this is for systems that havn't bin activated..also this will not work if you swich between accounts..will only work if you set local accoutn from the start
The fast Startup thing needs hibernating enabled so if the option doesn't appear open an admin CMD and type Code: powercfg -h on restart and the option should be there
oops.... i forgot that.... my fault................!!! i use powercfg -h off for gaining unused space because i don't like to use hibernation, i using sleep when im away from my pc, and when i want close it, i close it from.... psu (after making clean shutdown ofcourse ) my god... sorry
First off, a big thank you to all in this forum for sharing Windows 8 RTM! I went from an Enterprise-N install, to Enterprise and now, Pro, in order of release. I did a quick Malwarebytes scan after installation and it detected three trojans (Trojan.FakeMS, Trojan.FakeAlert) in Windows\WinSxS - atl.dll, iccvid.dll and x86....._atl.dll_0c7220db. Are these false positives? Did anyone do a scan and come up empty? I checked the MD5 sums of all three isos and they match. Other than that, I'm enjoying W8 RTM! Thanks for any help!
Why are the windows 7 sound scheme folders still there and the gadgets folder, is this just an over site.
small tip! fastest way to close any metro app running in the background just hover your mouse to the left select the running metro app you want and just middle click it with your mouse....gone!
