I suggest you don't install the updates. I did and now I have random network disconnects. Before it managed to configure my wifi connection properly. Afterwards I had to do it manually.
I have installed all x64 updates on Windows 8 Enterprise x64. There is no such difference in performance of notebook. Activation is just fine and things are smooth just like before.
Well. I've installed all x86 updates on Windows 8 Pro and really dont know what was fixed or updated or Improved. But KB2740448 and KB2739987 asks for Restart.!!! Overall: these updates may improve something or fix issue, but I see Windows Performance Running Same, Start-up and Shutdown Speed and Time is Same, Windows Look & Feel is Same and Finally Windows Still Activated.
I wouldn't expect the hotfixes and updates to improve performance in typical scenarios (although there might be the occasional update that does). Updates and hotfixes fix issues, and its the cumulative effect of all the updates that makes for a better system.
@burfadel Can your present Installer For Windows Updates V26d be used to install Windows 8 updates, be it for offline or online Windows image? When you install SP1 on Windows 7, you do not see massive performance improvement, like huge increase in Windows Experience Index, right? The same thing can be said about these hotfixes, which shall form the foundation of Windows 8 SP1. Slight performance improvement is more plausible, through the installation of the hotfixes. As a result, your Windows 8 is at its most updated state, as it can be at present.
My scanner had the same updates... For "arm" only. 2012/08/14 Added: KB2741530 KB2743798 KB2743862 Removed: KB2740548 KB2742329

I run install.cmd as an Administrator with the 3 hotfix .MSUs in the same folder, but the script complains "File not found". What am I doing wrong?
Run cmd as Adminstrator and then call the install.cmd. The install.cmd must be in the same folder where the updates are. It's all about your permissions.
