I am using Komm's KUC to install the updates. And this was a clean install on my computer so the there were like 52 updates to install but it took me 3 hours to install I don't know why. I suspected Kaspersky antivirus but it wasn't the reason because I paused it and re enabled it and there were no improvement in the speed. Any suggestions on how to fix this in the future. My laptop is only one month old.
As I don't know your machine, I have no idea why it takes so long. You tell us that it is even a brand new model and so far it is even more astonishing. I my self partly use PCs which are 3-5 years old and they perform an update speed within a few minutes ( depending on the amount of data 5 -15 min average)
I suspect that I have problem in my HDD as it one time when I was running Windows 7 SP1 x64 it refused to boot so I installed Windows 8 enterprise x64. But in my old Windows 7 SP1 it was also slow.
if your machine is only one month old and you think, the hd can cause the problem then go to your dealer and claim your warrenty
Have you ever tried to install updates on Windows 8 64 bit. I really suspect the 64 bit version of Windows. Cause it has a lot of files to update.
yes, I tried when I was young ...lol joke, you are right, 64 bit has a few more files to inject but there is no difference of hours
Total 42 updateds, size 632 MB(defender not included).. I think after three four months updates size would be 2GB-3GB. This OS has lots of problems & even MS solutions don't work to resolve those... Under VM it works fine but on real hardware its making mad...
at a certain point, I do not believe that MS still does normal updates when the amount is about to reach 2-3 GB. then I'm sure they issue an SP1 and include all stuff
Hey guys, could anyone provide a link to KB2777287 x64 please? I can't find it anywhere, and Komms servers are empty. Many thanks in advance
He changed the site layout a few weeks ago due to a huge spike in bandwidth usage. His host wanted to charge a ridiculous amount monthly. The direct download links and .7z's were removed, but the hotfixes can still be downloaded by using KUC or the search function (as abbodi1406 pointed out). If the download links don't display nicely like in abbodi1406's post, you can copy/paste the HTML links to get the files. One thing to try on future installs is to turn off Windows Update temporarily right after Win8 is installed and then run KUC to install the updates. WU may be working in the background downloading/installing updates before you run KUC and that may be slowing things down since some of the updates are so large.
Not sure what I did wrong. But I've used Windows Download Integrator with great success in the past for slipstreaming updates into Windows 8 ISO. Yesterday, I made integrated all updates/hotfix for Windows 8 x64 using this program and formatted my c: drive and clean installed Windows 8. However, Windows Update still shows me to install KB2770917 and KB2771431 even though those two updates were integrated using the tool. Any idea ?
