By installing all the current updates in both channels and then running DISM Cleanup-Image , rebooting, and after servicing, a quick check on the setup Event Log gave an eventlist of updates that were sent to the Absent state, and therefore those updates are no longer needed from the system's point of view: KB2727528, KB2736693, KB2737084, KB2742616, KB2753842, KB2756872, KB2757638, KB2758246, KB2761094, KB2763342, KB2769165, KB2769166, KB2770660, KB2774195, KB2777294, KB2778344_BF, KB2778344, KB2781197, KB2783122, KB2784160, KB2785220, KB2786454, KB2790655_BF, KB2790655, KB2790920, KB2792100_BF, KB2792100, KB2793210_BF, KB2793210, KB2795997, KB2796000, KB2797052, KB2797502, KB2799494_BF, KB2799494, KB2803676_BF, KB2803676, KB2803748, KB2806542, KB2807654, KB2807986, KB2818604, KB2819372_BF, KB2819372, KB2821346_BF If that helps to determine if an update is superseded, take that
Many in that list aren't in the repo due to them being superseded and removed earlier. Windows Update requires several of them though, which is probably why you had them installed. A couple in the list (a time-zone update and a Flash update) are old versions. Everything in the repo currently should already be the latest, non-superseded updates. But thank you for posting that info. ---------- A note to all: only the latest, non-superseded updates are in the Win8 repo. If you run a check with Windows Update after installing everything from the repo, WU will still say several updates are missing. That's because it wants some older, superseded updates to be installed (and it wants the GDR version of all in it's list). Only the very latest updates are in the repo, so the ones suggested by WU can be safely ignored.
someone should update the first post with the info, that you cannot access the repo by browser anymore. @Flipp3r you have to use win toolkit or windows download integrator to download updates from the repo now. -andy-
The keyword is "many" so I assume some in this list were still in the repo, even though they aren't needed (except the satisfy-WU updates)?
Many in your list are still in the repo because they are needed and not superseded. Take the first one, for example. Since you installed both the GDR and LDR, both KB2727528 and KB2727528_BF were installed but you only listed KB2727528 as being superseded, which would be true. That still left KB2727528_BF (the LDR) installed and it is not superseded. Many in your list are not superseded. Go back and look at your system and you'll see the _BF (LDR) versions for many of them still installed.
arseny92: I appreciate people here who are looking out for superseded/missing updates. And even though your list resulted in no changes to the repo, it still took a fair amount of time to review. After which, you post a snide remark. I then point out the flaw in your list (which I thought you already were aware of) and you just disappear. I'll keep this in mind next time I see a post from you. ------------ MyDigito: glad to hear the repo is working well for you.
