I tried the Controversial Update KB2756872 on Windows server 2012 and the install done just fine although the operation took 2 Restarts to complete
I just downloaded the thing manually and installed it. Successful(?)->reboot->count to 13% then stuck for 40 minutes->reboot->count to 13% then stuck for 40 minutes->reboot->Updates failed, reverting changes->logon. This is getting frustrating. Where do I look to see what happened?
This morning I tried again. I installed each of the available updates one at a time restarting after each installed. I finally found the one and only update that caused the endless loop of restarting and reverting: KB2756872. So now I am back in Windows 8 with all of the updates installed except for that one update.
I am following a thread named error code : WindowsUpdate_800F0920 when updating windows 8 pro in Microsoft answers forums. Same issue, no answers. Moonrak
1- Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer 2- On the left pane, expand Windows Logs, and then click Setup Setup events appear in the middle pane. 3- In the Actions pane (Right), click Filter Current Log. 4- In the Event sources list, scroll down and then click to select the WUSA check box, and then click OK. read the event carefully and hopefully you find an answer
The two most recent messages in the Setup log are: WUSA Event ID 2: Windows update "Update for Windows (KB2756872)" was successfully installed. On the Microsoft download page for Windows8-RT-KB2756872-x64.msu , among other it says: ".....Users who have upgraded from a previous version of Windows or Windows Server should run delmigprov.exe to resolve an issue that could prevent Windows8-RT-KB2756872-x64.msu from being installed." I googled "delmigprov.exe" but nothing found except Microsoft page. If someone can tell where to find and how to use it, we could try that even if we didn't upgrade from a previous version of windows
Information: Windows update "Update for Windows (KB2756872)" was successfully installed. There should be kind of poll saying who did clean install, who upgraded from 7/Vista or who runs VM/dual boot etcetera. If there would be a way to do it, I'd recommended this as this is the only away to find the reason for the problem. I'd like to exclude those with crack or activators as this is not reasonable for a research
Try to use: Installer for Windows 7 and 8 Series Updates V27 by Burf check it in the Windows 7 Hotfix repository.. i can not post links - Put it beside the Update - Run as Administrator - click "L" to enable logging - click "S" to turn off the forced install of LDR branch (if you wish) - click option "C" then "1" and when the process finishes.. 2 text logs will open automatically check it to see if the install was clean or errors before reboot
No, what happened here is not normal behavior. MS normally offers updates for OS when necessary and only those files are replaced by new ones which get the system more stability or security. What happened here is a mess with the new windows 8 OS as it seems that it is kind of service pack1 which was issued before official release date Oct 26.
For your information Clean install Win8 enterprise on a Dell D620ATG failed updates KB2751352 (not applicable to your computer) and KB2756872 (failure configuring updates reverting changes) tried twice once using update then downloaded it and tried standalone. ... Guess I should have read all the posts: "Post 97 KB2756872 may borked" I guess it's time to wait for greater minds than ours to tell us that they've solved it... T
i just tried a test install for Win 8 Pro x86 on VM... ran the KB2756872 from the .MSU package... and again the update installed perfectly so it is not wusa.exe related proplem ==== i see that most of those got the problem is working on X64 Win 8
This thread deals with hotfixes since quite a while prior to the big one issued yesterday Oct 9. Might it be like some installed these early hotfixes where some were superseded with new ones and finally got confused with the official release KB2756872? Please correct me but I could imagine such kind of bad mix on some machines
After failing to install the KB2756872 update, I tried a different approach. I downloaded the update and installed it from my HD. Failed again. It installed and configured on the reboot up to 98% before it failed and reverted. So I'm giving up for now. I expect that I will be doing a clean install at the end of the month once I get a licensed copy to install. Then we shall see if the updates install OK on a clean install before any other stuff gets installed.
Hi, I have not installed any hotfix so far. Only Windows Update official ones. Only one of my two PCs has this issue. The other does not. Both use motherboards based on the AMD 880's chipset series and use ATI cards. The only difference between both installations is that the one that accepts the update was installed originally in English with a Spanish Language pack applied later on. The one that fails was installed with Windows 8 Pro Spanish and has a minimum of software installed as I use it as a media center. Moonrak
I don't believe that it has to do with the version of W8 you installed like en with lp or just the final language version. Some of my machines were loaded with the first en and then packed with de-de lp packs and others installed with the native de-de version and all show no issues. So the problem must be somewhere else due to my logic understanding
Repo updated. KUC will follow, after adding the new addition for Camera Codec. (appies only for Clients, no ARM version at the moment)
