INTEL... is the pain in the ass... INTEL... company, what never learned, how to write SW properly... INTEL... the one, who just ruined my otherwise perfectly tuned W8 installation BEWARE of: 19. Intel Centrino PROSet Wireless Bluetooth v2-6-1209-0256 Full W8 Driver and 20. Intel Centrino PROSet Wireless Bluetooth v2-6-1210-0279 Full W8 Driver Installation program sets limited access to some registry keys as \HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\BTHPORT\Parameters\UnsupportedServices then it can't handle access to them, displays "Fatal Error" and... ...to be even more diabolic... ...it performs complete rollback to previous state (so when you are trying to uninstall, you can't to do so) AVOID Intel installer at all cost... I recommend: 1. Find (x64 and x32) MSI in the package and mark it according the architecture (by renaming it to _x64 or _x32) 2. Extract it by: msiexec /a IBT_x32.msi /qb TARGETDIR=c:\IBT\x32 msiexec /a IBT_x64.msi /qb TARGETDIR=c:\IBT\x64 3. Keep sub-folders: CoexDrivers and Drivers from each of x32 and x64 versions (You can merge x32 and x64 versions nicely as INF and CAT files are the same, so in final you will have only two folders: CoexDrivers and Drivers.) 4. Manually change driver in Device Manager (point to CoexDrivers folder). 5. When installing auxiliary equipment, just use 2nd folder (point to Driver folder). This will also omit installing "Send to Bluetooth" plugin, which is famous Office crasher.
To my knowledge, ReFS is only on Server 2012... you might want to mention that lol. EDIT: To clarify, you can't assume everyone reading this even knows what ReFS is, they'll just see this and assume its not working with W8.
Update: 7. DropBox v1-5-37 or 36 - No new files can be added, only shows "Indexing..." in tray. DropBox v1-4-19 or 20 works. Good news: Problem fixed in v1-5-40. But it was tough, I had to report it three times. ) Nice Side effect: Ugly context menu of versions 34-37 was finally removed and reverted to standard. Minor issue: It still doesn't show Photos folder icon correctly.
Update: 21. Media Player Classic - Home Cinema v1-6-4-6052. It tries to install x64 version to x32 program files even if x32 version is already installed there. Install path is needed to be edited manually during the installation.
Poikosoft Easy CD DA Extractor (ECDDAE) version 12.0.0 build 1 froze at startup, but seems to work now....
DAEMON Tools Lite DT Soft Ltd, Version 4.45.3.0297 PerfectDisk 12 Professional Raxco Software Inc., Version 12.00.275 Symantec Endpoint Protection Symantec Corporation, Version 12.1.1000.157
Could've sworn DT Lite worked. As for PerfectDisk, that version is outdated anyway; 12.5 is the latest, and is confirmed (by the developer, and myself) to work in Win8.
Bad news: OpenVPN v2-3 RC1 didn't fixed an error of Beta1 I002: 1. OpenVPN Beta1 I002 - OpenVPNGUI can't disconnect/terminate connection. OpenVPN v2-2-2 works.
Update: 22. Google Earth v7-0-1-8244 Beta and v6-2-2-6613. After exiting the program there is an error message that file myplaces.kml can't be created. Just go to <Disk:>\Users\<User-Name>\AppData\LocalLow\Google\GoogleEarth and rename myplaces.kml.tmp to myplaces.kml. Next time it will be OK.
Update: 23. VMware Workstation v9-0-0-812388. It can't be installed on MS Hyper-V enabled system. Shame...
[QUOTE-moderate;646206]C. Windows 8 has very strange problem with Safe-removal of some peripherals. With some of them, it just displays three dots "..." in system tray instead name of HW to remove. I am still investigating the issue... [/QUOTE]I had the same issue but installing WD softwares that came with usb HD solved the problem... on a reinstall I also noticed that before I could install that software an update for driver was available...
24. VirtualBox can be installed, but I can't allot more than 1 CPU for any VM. After disabling Hyper-V, all things are normal.
