So does that mean these servers are down forever or just for a while, I just installed winodws 8 and I can't use certain parts of it until I activate
Since you're now using volume license and activate it using KMS, it's only 180days But Pro version can be switched into Retail version after you buy genuine key, it's permanent use
Im just here for the ride like you. I'm using AviiNL's script to retry activations on all servers till one takes.
You are forgetting that Windows 8 Enterprise comes with the ability to create Windows To Go workspaces. Windows To Go allows you to bring Windows 8 on a USB Flash Drive, plug in to any computer and running your own version of Windows 8 Enterprise with your personal settings and configurations in tact. You can even login to your bank account with ease knowing that no traces are left behind the host machine. That is something you won't find in Windows 8 Pro. If you ask me whether I would rather have all the video codecs installed on Windows Media Player versus having Windows To Go and not have all the video codecs, it's a no brainer. Windows 8 Enterprise all the way.
Windows-to-Go can be achieved with Pro by using imageX. VLSC keys can be used to permanent activate Ent(and people already did that); of course, there is no point for people with VLSC keys to make KMS activations for 180 days.
right, there are 3 method to active volume license, one can active permanently (maybe MAK keys), and KMS key is only contract as I known
The script works better because it keeps trying until Windows is activated. Just let it run in the background all night and maybe you'll be activated in the morning. Search this thread to get the script: [UPDATED] Windows 8 Activation helper
If you have the script running and the servers come back online even for 5 minutes, you'll be activated. Otherwise you can just fart around and keep trying the command prompt 1000 times.
