It doesn't resolve to an IP address, so there is no way to even try to ping it. All it means is that you've got crappy DNS servers set that redirect non-existing domains.
I don't think the KMS server owner made all those mirror links. I think other people have made them and the server owner has taken the server offline to stop being tracked down. There was a reason he was using a IPv6 tunnel broker to try and mask his ID :/
So with out being able to activate using a bootleg KMS server windows 8 expires within 7 days, hopefully a new server will show up however, I just want to use the leaked win8 until I can purchase it, any other way of extending the 7day limit ? will reverting the system date extend the limit ? how about make a image file or backup key system files ?
You can always rearm your copy of Win 8 by executing slmgr -rearm command in Admin cmd mode. If you haven't activated yet this will extend your validity to an extra 30 days.
Pinging the server only means that it is available on the internet for you to connect to. You can even ping kmc-no-ip.org (the very first KMS server.). What matters is whether the KMS service is up & running on this machine or not & that is it available for activation.
Where is this 7 day coming from? If you activated when the server was online then your grace is 180 days. Sure, the machine will keep trying every now and then to reactivate but it won't be until day 179 where you really need to find another KMS server to activate against.
Maybe 7 days of reactivation interval which automatically attempt connecting to KMS Server to reactive, then you need some registry changes
Yeah sorry I thought it was 7 days to activate if you can't activate via KMS how long before it craps out ? 30 days ?
Hopefully after today once the MSDN downloads are available we might see new servers coming up due to the availability of KMS host keys for the servers to run Win 8 activations. Moving forward a KMS server activation will be the only apt method of activating pirated copies of Win 8 (which is very similar to how Office 2010 activation works today) due to OA 3.0.
Cmon people. Learn to read, it is all in the first post. Kms is activated for 180 days. Don't confuse this with the built in reactivation interval. I suggest reading and learning how kms works, then you will better understand this whole process.
you cant activate via KMS tho as there is no server to do so, If make ghost image and restore it on the 29th day will it check for the original date Windows 8 was installed ?
