Why can't activated forever with this kms, i remember that there were previous ksm to activ wind8 with not expiration (all these kms are locked by our mother Ms )
KMS has always been 180 days and then re-activate. This is nothing new, been like this since Vista times.
for those who did not clear the mooo address with -ckms can run the elevated command with slmgr -ato only. there is no need to repeat server address all the time. BUT when the server changes, you need to type the new address of course. This is just for the lazy ones among us ... lol
But if you buy windows 8 (23 oct 2012?) and use the serial key found in the box, is it will activated by a server no? It'll not expire after 180 days, or no? It lasts forever, you save the spp directory, replace after a formatting for example and go, only if you change some important HW (processor, mothBoard) you will need a new license/serial. I don't undestand why 180 days. PS: Excusme for my english, I greet you from Italy and thank for you experience and tricks.
We all have the same questions as you,you are not alone. The only thing to do is wait and see till the official release on 23 of October
The 180 days is for kms activation. If you activate with a retail key then there is no time limit. If you format you can activate using the same retail key again.
No, we shouldn't get used to it. It fills the thread with redundant questions, followed by another 2-3 replies with redundant answers; rinse and repeat, and we end up with a giant thread conveying this practice as acceptable (which it shouldn't be), and where new or useful information gets buried by a mess of useless filler posts. It would be better if the top post was updated with recent information and displayed on top of every page, and useless posts deleted. Every single post saying "just activated" or "what is the key?" is really just useless clutter. The problem isn't just people being too lazy to look up even the simplest things for themselves, but also the people encouraging this behavior by helping them.
yeah that would be alot better to have the original post updated maybe then people wouldnt keep asking about it, but we all know that most people are too lazy to read ps: no offense to the people that actually contribute important information
In theory that would work, but like wolf69 already mentioned it is human nature nowadays to simply ask instead of read (take a look at the Windows Loader topic for example) So simply get used to it or stay out the discussion yourself!
