Yes. More than 4 hours off and it will fail; in your case (when translating time zones) the difference was 2 hours. Still the wrong time, but within the tolerance for KMS. The significance of time zones and why they need to be set correctly is beyond this thread though. I thought it would be common sense for people to set it to, well, their time zone. How this can possibly be a problem for so many is beyond my imagination. There's a reason Windows asks for it during OOBE.
Yes, this puzzles me too, that the time zone is not set by everyone at the beginning of the installation. I never had any issues as this is one of the steps been done during setup, so ...
Sorry but Windows 8 does not ask you for your time zone at setup. Best check for-yourself this before you give out the incorrect info. I have setup 26 computers in the shop and store with Windows 8 pro and never once was asked my time zone.
I know this is all a moot point, but things as simple as this tend to be bothersome to me So time is a factor and UTC is everyones time, so the confusing part I guess is how could it ever be 4 hours more or less if the time had been synced regardless of time zone. I should call MS and frown upon them for this
First post updated. I had originally requested this page locked as most of the conversation had veered drastically off-topic. I was surprised to see that it was re-opened. Thus the delay in updating the first post. Please direct anyone asking questions previously answered in the first post to the ... first post. It is my understanding that you are not allowed to post MAK keys, however the posting of SLP (OEM) keys and KMS Client Keys are permitted.
Hm, I remember the first page when starting installation, you find three different pulldowns, where you first enter install language, second TIME and currency and third your keyboard method. So far, I entered in my case Germany and was set to my location. I installed the last machine some time ago and do not know it absolutely by heart, but one of these next days, I will prepare a new one and then, I let you know exactly what has to be done ... I do not want to give false information here lol
The Spider please do not ask this question to me. I only forward, what was said by mods about this situation. I think, that it is not totally forbidden but repeatedly using these keys in the threads is not welcome by MDL. Please contact Yen or some mods to check with this matter. Thank you and please continue your work
Finally got my Windows 8 activated with the KMS main server ip that I found in the first post today. It was not that hard. Thanks everyone!
Yep, now first post became informative again. Now i will point to it, if dumb questions appear.... Regards
Reformatted the first post, added the following questions/answers and sold out by including bitcoin address: What information is sent to the KMS Server?
