The activation state and VM UUID for Win 8 are not provided yet. We should be grateful to have the Win 7 ones...
Right I know that and I didn't say I wasn't! I was simply summarising what I thought to be the current situation.
You will get tokens and pkey with virtualbox uuid as soon as i get home... there will be also client count to 25 if it saves in tokens...
That KMS host key is a "client-type" key and only activates client OSs, i.e. all KMS-capable editions of Vista, 7, and 8. I don't think restoring the Windows 7 activation state would work on Windows 8/2012. However, I've been able to restore the activation state to a 2008 R2 Core VM (making it a "frankenbuild" by installing the license files from Windows 7), to keep the footprint small. Similarly, a Server 2008 Core VM with a Vista Business client key works as a KMS client to increase the count on the server.
Thanks for explaining. I hope someone shares a KMS host "server-type" key or figures out some way other way of creating a local KMS host.
This only proves that people don't RTFM. And apparently neither have you, otherwise you could not know this...
few questions: 1: is the KMS key still working and valid? 2: does the PC count have to be from different computers or can it just be from the same computer but activated different times? (more questions might come later if i think of any )
The key provided is no longer valid, but you can use the provided activation files to setup a KMS host.
Ok so as long as I replace the token pk files with the ones provided then it will be activated and able to use? PS, why bother with using a windows 8 host when this works perfectly on windows 7 host? PSS, this activates both 7 and 8 Pro and Enti correct?
Yes haven't got to it yet, but that is the way it should work! Don't forget to change the UUID of your virtual machine.
Euhm, the provided pkey and tokens are for Win7 pro, where I referred to. Even if you install a kms host on win8, the leaked key will not work (nor the pkey and tokens) cause it's tied to a Win7 setup. Again: RTFM.
