Host is perfectly activated as KMS Host by appliying these files (had to use ubuntu-live-image to do so). But has to be "armed" by 25 requests from different win 8 machines to start activating clients. My host does activate now, but that count is the only thing which is not stored within these files.
The activation files included in the zip will activate the KMS Host machine. However, in order to start properly handing out activations to client machines, you need 25 client computers to connect to this KMS host. For those on here that have the KMS Host working, they've either gone through the process of having a VM connect 25 times (see tutorials posted) or have had some mix of physical clients and virtual machines connect to the host (each time, they are not activating successfully assuming they are unlicensed already). As soon as you connect and attempt to activate the 25th client machine, you'll see the KMS host start activating clients successfully.
Ok so to get this right. KMS is active, you can locally activate PC's from your own network till the count gets to 25 then you can start to run it as a public server, correct?
Yes I understand all that, sorry if I'm not explaining correctly. The host won't start activating until it's received a minimum of 25 requests (On a Win 7 Pro host did I read?), then it will start activating and keep the cache of what it's activated for 30 days. So what are the activation files shared by s1ave77 for? Key, activation backup files and uuid are in with the pdf so what are your files for? When the KMS VM has been configured with these activation files the request count is at 0, I also understand the activation count isn't stored in them -so what are they for? Hope I've explained better this time folks, cheers.
Nope, you have to start 25 attempts for activation from 25 different machines, without activation. If treshold is reached, the host starts activating all win 8 machines attempting for. These files were uploaded in the hope, that this treshold count is stored in them too. Shattered dreams so far . To much info to handle your request....
You clearly understood it as I did then - those activation files carried the initial 25 request count. Now thanks to s1ave77' posting makes clear to all - they don't.
If useing a Windows 8 as the KMS, do I still have to install KB2691586. If so where can i get it as i only see it for win 7 and server R2
But if we make 25 VMs and activate we can be rested for another 180 days, right? After that, setup another 25 Vms and activate again for 180 days.
25 VMs is a lot for a single household Then I better stick with mooo, a bottle of wine and my collection of keys ... lol
So every 30 days we have to activate all over again these 25 VM's, and if we dont we loose the count correct. Why not just snapshot it.
Though i´m able to setup 2 machines simultaneously via fully automated vmware-smart-install, only thing is waiting till installations ends and run an activation.cmd on them. Mostly boring, but not that hard.... Lasts nearly 20 minutes for both. At least it´s possible to open this via vpn for invited "public".
