And what happens if you have to re-install oh your client machines? If you run the client VM once a day with an automated script the count will ALWAYS be > 25. So if you re-install you don't have to worry about backing up tokens, just activate via the KMS server and all is well, no need to spend 45 mins boosting the count every time you need to activate.
I turned off UAC and took ownership of the pkeyconfig files and overwrote them from within Windows. Now as far as upping the count, I am a little confused on the next step. Right now I have my VM Win7 kms host activated and have a count of 1 by using my Win 8 install. Do I need to install another VM and take a snapshop of that to increase my count to 25.
I have a Windows server 2012 running 24/7. Is it possible to install the kms server on it to activate my and my friends windows 8 computers?
If you read past posts about this. You would see that this will only work on Win7 Pro/Win8 Pro. This will not work on Servers. Thanks
I was referring to a windows 7 install in hyper v so as it can be running 24/7 sorry for any confusion
The problem is that my server is running on a Intel Core 2 E7200 that does not support Virtualization
The activation files posted in this forum are for Windows 7 pro and Windows 8 pro. So right now, for us, it can only be done of these 2 versions. Of course it can be done on Windows server, but you have to use a valid KMS key. The key that was used for our way has been used to many times hence the activation files to get it activated.
Yeah use Hyper-V and make a VM EDIT: NVM didn't see that your CPU doesn't support VT-x. Only other thing you could try is VMWare, pretty sure it can still run 32 bit VM's without VT-x support, they'd just be slower obviously.
Those who are using windows 8 as KMS host & still not managed to attain count of 25. Backup you activation with Advanced Tokens Manager v3.5 & replace data.dat file with attached file & Replace "Data CRC:" in Config.ini file to 93681A8C. Then restore activation & this will up you count. Tested it on 3 different installations on vmware & working. May take longer but works.
Reading your post i assume you installed Windows 8, installed key and activated online? right? What is your uuid.bios value? What about tokens.dat? (only posted Windows 8 tokens.dat and data.dat i have seen are for VirtualBox)
