Correction to original PDF You don't need to replace pkeyconfig.xrm-ms. If you install KB2757817 over Windows 7 Professional SP1 you already get this file. Indeed pkeyconfig.xrm-ms tells windows what keys can be installed using slmgr /ipk. If you try to install a Win8 CSVLK before KB2757817 you will get an error. It is because pkeyconfig.xrm-ms is changed during the installation. So basically if you are doing this RIGHT, you already have a correct pkeyconfig.xrm-ms. Here is the details for this file: CRC32: 2EF6806E MD5: E02D88CD9FDEB6272F2EB861F78354A3 SHA1: 5989C16D90CDEB96FA2DEE0F741226EBBE07AC48

Is there a guide somewhere or do you think someone will be making one on how to install and activate Win 8 with links for someone like myself who hasn't been following this thread for weeks or months? I've tried reading through this and many other threads today and the amount of information to sift through is staggering. The win 7 section had a thread like that that pretty much walked you through the complete process from start to finish with links to what was needed. Thanks for any information or a point in the right direction.
For those, who installed the first issue of W8 RTM, which was in english only and after this loaded the local language pack, can be said, that some of you might have trouble with proper time zone setup. As detected heavily in the past, many KMS activation attempts fail due to impropper time zone adjustmets out of a range of 4 hours to the needed setting. When setting up a new W8 OS, on the blue setup page 1, the 2nd dropdown menue in the middle, you can adjust your local time and currency if you don't use the single language version of your W8 as of your position. So please check on this before using KMS service !!
Thank you very much! At first glance this seems much much easier than I had expected. I'm off to give this a try I hope it works. thanks again
