No it was not. You say that kms-c.no-ip.org now points to 127.0.0.1 (and I confirmed it), but it pointed somewhere else before. What was the previous address? Unless they also changed the IP or blocked outside traffic it should still be up.
Suggestion: Anyone who had activated their copy, congradulations! Make sure he backup the copy by ghost or whatever.....if he got a virus or any unpleasant thing, he can still have his activated copy back,......there might not be a second chance.
Yeah I also read something like that... so the next question would be... WHY did they make it public for a couple of hours? Testing? An act of kindness towards those lucky ones, like me, who were refreshing MDL every 5 minutes? Well, I hope this "publicness" was just a big test for a MINI-KMS emulator! That would be great news... PS: thinking about it... it's ridiculous, two days after RTM and we already have our own activated copy of win 8...
You can't right now. My suggestion would be to reinstall the Pro version without media center and use an alternative software. Besides, even Microsoft seems to be trying to hide Media Center, it was never that good or popular. IMHO
I removed the server. However I just activated yesterday... no need to reactivate just yet. However it would be nice to have a local fake KMS server, so that we are not dependent on this remote one.
No. I removed just because it was down. Imagine if Microsoft took control o kms-c.no-ip.org domain... than they could point it to their own servers and screw us all.
Just run it on a VPS that allowes seeding and other grey stuff. Use only the IP, very slim chance MS will take it over, they may get it suspended. There are VPS packages around for $15 a year that allow pretty much anythign and give you 300GB. (buyvm.net).
