the key is to upgrade from pro to pro with WMC... so now u reactivate windows against a kms server and use the anytime upgrade of windows... and it is done
Thanks for the prompt response. I was away after shutting down my PC. Came back a couple of minutes ago, turned my PC ON, ran VMWare and to my surprise, Windows was Activated this time. (Date of Activating OS is TODAY) Unlike previous Activation, its not showing me the "Time until Activation is Valid" anymore. Does it mean my copy is actually activated as Genuine/Legit? Or is it the same "Activated via Loader" type of Activation i.e. Not Legit (paid) Copy? Furthermore, what do you guys suggest. Can/Should I use my Microsoft Account with it and Update Windows (via Windows Update) as usual? Or should I still avoid it because of my Non-Legit copy. I have a hunch that Microsoft is planning something big against piracy this time. As they have attached your Live/Hotmail/Microsoft account with Windows Itself, using a Pirated copy with that Account Logged in MAY result in: - Our Microsoft Account being blocked/blacklisted. - Our OS being blocked/blacklisted - Any other form of punishment ... But this is just my thought. I would really like to have some more opinion on this to support (if it does) my idea.
did u enter proWMC key to activate windows... if not then no ur still with kms activation and legally non genuine... second thing about ur MS a/c... u may use it if activated via kms or via ProWMC key and not by any Hacktivator... third thing MS is not going to blacklist or block ur a/c... they have only linked it to ur system so that the their sale of surface tablet increases nothing more...
The activation expiry time is missing because you are actually genuinely and permanently activated. The general consensus here on MDL is that if you used a genuine WMC upgrade key from MS's free offer, then MS will not be able to tell that your copy is not legit.
Indeed the activation is permanent after applying WMC key. AFAIK, the only way Microsoft could potentially detect "illegitimacy" is by inspection of the previous KMS activation information (someone told me it is stored inside of data.dat), but even that IMO is too far removed for action to be taken against it. I believe it's reasonable to believe that this is "as good as it gets" aside from legal methods, and I certainly have no fear of using my Microsoft accounts on these computers.
Yes, it's legit. Run > slui. If you get "Windows is Activated" Current product key - *********-abcd where abcd is the MS e-mailed key, you're good Hope you didn't sign in with a MS account. If you have, then it's technically possible if MS does find out, but it's highly unlikely. So many legitimate activations have happened through those servers that it's highly unlikely that MS will antagonize their paid clientele to nab some of us small fries. They'll go after professional pirates mostly IMO If you haven't signed in with an MS account, then you need not worry even that bit. You cannot lose access to your account just for using your account from a 'pirated' copy. Be rest assured
@adit123tya, @kelorgo, @TopJimmy, @calguyhunk! Thank you VERY much guys That information was extremely useful. Now, i think its time for me to install Windows 8 as my Primary OS in a Hard Drive instead of using it in VMWare. Time for Win7 to Rest. Cheers
Just tried through KMS MOO, didnt activate. I came here after a long time. Lot of things have moved ahead...I am seeing lot of VM activations...is it absolutely necessary or I can hang on to MOO and KMS??
moo ppl dependent. The thing is that you will need to do that every 180 days for the rest of your life. You ppl should try with a local solution, like kmsmicro.
