Hi guy, I need help.... I got Dell laptop preloaded with Windows 8 Single Language activated. Now I got another same laptop but without windows, I clone the hard disk and load it, the windows is not activated... So how do I activate the windows? All the hardware spec is same..
Solution might be installing either Retail or VL version and activate via KMS? Retail could be permanently activated with WMC-Key from MS for free. What version exactly is installed?
Each system has its own hardware ID and win8 will not work with the same key on another system. If I am following right, just install Win8Pro Retail, change key to VL and KMS it to get it activated. Then update with WMC key and you are permanently activated. Once you do that, make an image of the system and save it (and a copy of your WMC key). Pau
How about when you order Recovery Disk from the Dell Web Site? I suppose there is a key that it is the same for all computer that "switch" Windows to OEM mode to have it looks the bios for the hardware specific keys? What if I buy an used laptop that was re-formatted, say to install Linux, and I want to revert it back to Windows 8?
Having never had to order a recovery CD from dell(i do have a dell desktop)or needed one and not installed on a second hand pc that was formatted for Linux I simply wouldn't have a clue I am sure if you posted your problems here on MDL a helpful member would offer assistance
Well, recovery would be one way, maybe. HP now asks for your exact model (Serial # I believe it is). I am still not convinced that they OEM key is the same for all. I would really like to see the last 5 digits of everyone's key that recently bought an HP with Win8 Core x64 on it lol
