Windows 8 KMS Activation

Nope, pinging don´t work in that case. You have to activate Windows or Office against the host. Most here, as me likewise, running several virtual machines and Office in them for testing .

Check time zone settings (must fit your actual location) and sync your time. Server is working.

Can confirm, activated Win 8 and Office 2013 successfully now, well done, Sir .

 

Pinging is old method & doesn't inform about required service is working or not, Just shows that host is alive or not & modern systems don't allow that kind of check. check service offered, use office or windows KMS client service to check. Hope you knows the commands.

for office
cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:<hostname or IP>
cscript ospp.vbs /act

I’m getting dizzy after reading all posts....

 

Hi there.
Today I instaled fresh copy of w8 proWMC. I have tried KMS activation (with wmc key) on working kms server, but I get error message, that "No key management service (KMS) could be contacted.

If I use standart win8 pro key, then I get error with slui.exe and non-core stuff.

If enyone have managed to solve that problem I would be very thankful for giving me a haned.

if you read carefully, you should have seen, that you cannot activate pro with media center. You have to first use pro only installing with VL key from Technet, activate it against KMS and then ad WMC by using the free key coming from MS. After that you are permanently active and legal... lol

well, downloading w8 pro and reinstalling... unless there is a way to remove wmc

 

Just tested "kms.cc.columbia.edu" and it up and running
