Updated time before I did those cmds. I'll try Columbia - let me look for it.

please delete the entire port thing. as port 1688 is default. simply type the server address without port extension

On time zone. Do I just need to make sure my time is up to date or do I have to change my time zone to the one columbia is in?

Did last command at both lunar and Columbia. Both times returned:

    "Activating Windows(R), Pro edition
    (a98bcd6d-5343-4603-8afe-5908e4611112)...
Error: 0xC004F074 The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. No key management service (KMS) could be contacted. Please see the Ap Event Log for additional info"

sometimes you need to do it twice or even more often until success. If time zone is adjusted correctly there is only a few seconds ahead to do it

Look closely to typos in your command window!! Only one letter missing or incorrect leads to error even when the machine tells you that the key-management is set to a certain server !!

Commands have to be used that way:

    Code:
    cscript slmgr.vbs /skms kms.cc.columbia.edu
    cscript slmgr.vbs /ato

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...

I tried several times and used slave77's helpful script but no luck. Same message saying no KMS could be contacted.

didn't know that you have any antivirus, yes turn it off. leave defender and windows firewall as is. If firewall is 3rd party turn it off as well
