Why guess when you can check facts? Code: _vlmcs._tcp.mit.edu. 1800 IN SRV 0 0 1688 KMS.MIT.EDU. And of course it's firewalled for off-campus hosts. Their admins aren't complete morons it seems.
lol correct, you can ping to see if its there, but it wont tell you its actually activating anything unless you try.
I will try on Wmware let see if it is working there i will let everyone know. Added: I does work W8 Office 2013 Pro Plus on Wmware.
SeishiNui...What I am saying is my activation is all fine and legal as I bought the serial and the download. I then use that downloaded .iso and install to all my families computers with the serial from technet and then the free Windows Media Center key. It says you have to have VLC to activate..Mine is retail and works on others...Follow now?
when does this (bold portion on your post) happen? did you tried activating via KMS first before using your WMC to upgrade? I'm not sure but the way I see it was you tried using your WMC key to upgrade first and not activating the PRO version via KMS before doing the upgrade to WMC. When you tried activating via KMS, you're already a PRO+WMC version and I think the KMS host is telling you that the key currently on your system is not a VLK one so you cannot activate via KMS since there was no VLK key for a PRO+WMC one and the free keys are retail keys. what I did on my test virtual machine was install Win8 using the key posted in The Official Windows 8 Repository which are retail keys as said, then changed the key using slmgr to one on the technet then activated via KMS after being activated upgraded the version to PRO+WMC using emailed upgrade key, stayed activated after.
