If this is permanent thing, I'm very sorry to hear.... If this is temp thing, no need to worry... I did use your Server and found it fast and furious.... Thanks for the use of...
Is there any harm in extending my Win 8 Enterprise acivation period by using slmgr -ato every few weeks? I last did it about a month ago and just updated it successfully via mooo.com which gives me until July now, but is there any "risk" by doing this frequently every month or so? Also if I stop auto updates from M$ I guess it's still possible they can flag my install as non genuine anytime they choose?
If you didnt clear the KMS server address on the client the client will re-activate itself against the KMS server every 7 days by default, Thus giving you another 180 days. So basically if the KMS server your using is accepting activations your count will never drop below 173 days
No one can say that for sure until M$ releases a WGA for Windows 8 which most probably will be popping up after January 31st, 2013. It is very much possible for M$ to deactivate your copy of Windows much like how they thwarted the data.dat swap technique. The best example is how copies of Windows 7 that were activated against the public KMS servers started failing the WGA soon after the CSVLK keys got blocked.
Does that mean they could deactivate me "silently" without me allowing or installing any further update?
Depends on how you phrase the word silently as. You are bound to get deactivated if any of these updates / M$ downloads requires a WGA check on your machine before you get started. Unless that happens or as I said earlier, until a WGA check for Windows 8 is out, there is no telling of in how many ways can an illegally activated PC can get deactivated. On thing's for sure though. If the CSVLK key for Windows 8 gets blocked (the one which your KMS host used against which you are currently activated), you will def get deactivated if your run the WGA once it's out. As long as you do not really ask for it, you should be safe. CODYQX4 mentioned sometime back that the WGA is now integrated into the OS rather remotely. So how far is M$ looking to thwart illegal copies of Windows 8 is very much uncertain at this point of time.
Well lets hope not . Either way I dont think they will block it and even if they do by the time they block it + 180 days hopefully there will be a real activator out there for us to use . And if they do block it via WGA, then just dont install the WGA . And someone will prob crack the WGA like they did with XP so we can install the cracked one and still pass. We will only know once or if MS puts one out there.
Hmmm CODYQX4 is someone to listen to so it sounds like it possibly could happen at any time whilst connected to the net.. oh well let's hope it's not today
I think like you. And if windows 8 does not meet a great success which is probable. M$ will do nothing at all.
what about if we keep a KMS up and running for the forum, i can host that one, and we can activate whenever it need?!
Do you have the full address? Gunna reinstall windows. All kept saying kms server couldnt be contacted
