Quick question... I am puzzled about this... Hre, Home network with several Windows 8 machines... and a local Windows Server 2012 KMS in the mist... all the Windows 8 keep activating within 30 days against the local server (wish is running 24/7) so everything is good... i can check the status every once in a while and the count always stays just below 179 days... happy home... but... I have a bad apple, a windows 8 Enterprise machine which if I run 'manual' activation ( slmgr/ato) against the local KMS server activates just fine, no problem... but it does not do it automatically as it supposed to within 30 days.. the days just keep counting down..., as I said if manually is ok... the other PC's in the network renew their activations automatically.. I have double checked the registry - made sure its appointing to correct IP address and port.. there is no problem at all... why is not doing it automatically?, if I open a DOS window and run "slmgr /ato" is ok. I can run a batch file to run it every 30 days or so to solve the problem, no biggy... but just I have this thing to "why" is not doing it... ideas?
Hi I'm sorry I didn't read the full thread (609 pages!) but I was wondering : would it be possible to activate Windows 8 with KMS for more than 180 days ? Let's say I set my bios time to 01/01/2020, and then activate for 180 days, and finally reset my bios time to real date and year. Would my expiration time be 06/01/2020 ?
You have a method to activate when you want to, even automatically. Who cares how long it activates for?
Idk, it was just something on my mind^^ If that would have been possible (is that a correct tense ? lol, I'm not english), then a simple .exe could have done everyting for us, eg: activate for 100 years or whatsoever. Nevermind : Thanks for the quick answers !
I don't think there is any disadvantage using the VL version. edit : well there is one though, VL versions can't be permanently activated. But who cares if we have AutoKMS
You have to sync your time to be able to activate so the only thing i can think of is a time server that displays the time 10 years in the future to activate against and then resync your time to the correct time
