I did what GreatGrand want to do and it is working well. I installed kms server service from MTK on a machine that runs 24/7. All the other computers on my lan contact it for activation. The only issue I found was the client machines would not auto-renew if I specified the server by IP address (slmgr /skms 192.168.1.5:1688). Yes, the server does have a static IP. Opening an administrator command prompt on a client machine and entering "slmgr /ato" worked every time. I finally resolved the problem by configuring the client machines to access the server by name rather than IP address (slmgr /skms bob-pc:1688).
Okay, so far I have tried KMS Server Service by Hotbird64 1.3 by Hotbird64 but it doesn't work under Server Core, because it uses various calls (memcpy, malloc, rand etc.) to CRTDLL.DLL which apparently doesn't exist on Server Core 2012. Edit: KMS Server Service by deagles 1.4 does seem to work under Server Core.
My service v1.4 uses msvcrt.dll and it logs requests in eventlog. Eventlog entries: Code: Application and Service Logs -> Key Management Service Random pids are useless until ms release a wga update, but you can create your own if you want: Code: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\KMSServerService\Parameters\Windows
I see. I hadn't looked carefully enough. I'll change my previous post accordingly. Sorry for the misinformation.
Guys, is there any working KMS server online for Windows 8? I have been looking for it since many days now. I know about the toolkits out there, but I prefer a simple KMS server over them. So can anyone give a helping hand? Thanks
Since MTK and other tools are arround, the open servers went down dramatically. Why do you refuse to use a local service which gives you the same result independently of any online server available or not? Your system is not harmed in any way and so far I cannot see any reason not to work with the tools
This server is online as I can ping it. but it is not extending the activation of my already activated Windows 7 Enterprise? Error message is "The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. The Key Management Service (KMS) is unavailable". My time zone is correct as well. I haven't touched or changed it since I first activated it. But nevertheless, I still checked it and I can confirm my time zone is correct. So what is the problem? My current activation will expire on 10/30/2013.
None of the hosts i know is responding at this moment, all seem to be down. Would recommend using KMS_VL_ALL script from my signature. This is instant activation via emulator, which will leave no traces.

re-activation w8 hi, I managed to renew my activation of windows 8 pro with Coldzero tool. Server: whwebsolution.no-ip.org
Help, any of these KMS server wont work for me: win8kms4.mooo.com win8kms.no-ip.info kms.cc.columbia.edu View attachment 22196
I think that a lot of people activated online with mooo (etc etc) and are now worried about their expiring activation. Its likely they haven't followed development here. If only there was a way to let them all know heehee
