My considerations: KMS server needs a Windows 8 KMS serial to activate! technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793421.aspx is for KMS client NOT the server After support.microsoft.com/kb/2691586 we need a KMS key to enable w8 licensing. At the moment KMS_C_R2 is unuseful for Win8.
No I'm actually giving it another try. In the KMS2 you need to do that update and since its already an activated KMS server it should allow for Windows 8 activations theoretically
At the moment i'm using mini-KMS to activate a number of VMs running Vista/Win7/SVR2008 and it keeps getting flagged by A/V software. I figured this would be a better answer and it could be fun to check out.
What is the default ip for the Windows 8 KMS server (run by Microsoft, that hasn't come on-line yet)?
Anyone knows some more information about: 91.149.135.121, KMS use the same partial key as the one before? (HWKV8)
any tips how to activate using that ip? i used some steps i found but when i try slmgr /ato it gives me an error.
I have been constantly updating the first post as frequently as possible to reflect the most up to date information as possible. I included the updated instructions in the last update.
Make sure the time zone and date is correct on your computer. My date ended up 2030 somehow and I coldn't activate. Then I changed to correct time and date and everything went dandy. Now I'm only waiting for a way to backup the activation files.
Something weird happened. My KMS activated Windows 8 Pro suddenly reported as not-activated after installing Office 2010 Volume and rebooting. I hadn't used Office's Mini KMS activator yet. I see no hotfixes installed that could have deactivated Windows. My guess is Office's installer did something to the KMS activation system. Can anyone confirm this? However, I successfully reactivated it using the latest KMS server address posted here. Still, I'm worried about this happening again when there's not an online KMS server anymore.
