My Windows 8 got unactivated... I'm not sure if it was after installing DAEMON Tools. Glad this new server allowed me to reactivate it.
I may have an explanation for this... KMS activation fails whenever something device-wise changes. Thinking about it, I also installed Intel's RAID drivers, which of course messed with how Windows recognized my Hard Drive controller. That made Windows recalculate the Installation ID and deactivated Windows. Daemon Tools installs a new device, I think it's because of that.
It does not mount Cue/Bin images for example. However, there's WinCDEmu which is free and open source...
I got only one thing to say: Make backup of these folders in order to backup the activation. C:\Windows\System32\spp\store C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WSLicense (This might not be needed) IT WORKS! I risked my activation just to try this and according to Volume Activation Management Tool 2.0 my license is renewed and will expire next year and the usual System window says I'm activated.
What do you mean by risk? Did you reinstall Windows? I think if you reinstall it will generate a new installation ID and those folders will be useless, but I might be wrong...
