this only happened to me when i had both win8 rtm and win7 ultimate on the same hard drive, but when i install either on a seperate hard drive, they both stay activated
The win7 Loader put something in the boot sector to emulate the BIOS SLIC, when you install win8, it replaces the win7 boot manager, and the emulation too.
You don't need your clock set to paris or any crazy thing like that, you do however need to ensure your clock is on the right time for your local time zone to activate, this has been the case forever.
Can anyone guide me to what page in the topic I can find out how to take advantage of the IPv6 activation? or just plainly how to do it? I have one Pc fully working(from before the KMs servers went down) and my laptop is still suffering as crippled little portable machine. I just need a little nudge in the right direction.
very true i like the old Win 7 bootloader it is faster + when using Win 8 bootloader when you select you other(s) OS it restarts the pc. simply put the older bootloaders is faster use BCD to change it back
I've not actually tested it but reinstalling the loader from Windows 7 should allow both OS's to boot and both will be activated. If, however, it doesn't work then it'd probably be due to the Windows 8 boot routine.
don't know what you did wrong but i have win 7, xp and now 8 on same HD i also did this on 2 other systems on same HD
The server is probably down. I ping to the server(benderrodriguez-1-pt.tunnel.tserv28.waw1.ipv6.he.net) but it show could not find the host.
I don't think you need to reinstall the loader just boot into windows 7 and set it as the default boot os and that should bring back the old windows 7 boot menu. I have tried that!!!
Just set win7 as default and it will bring the win7 bootloader back. For win8 bootloader, it actually first boot into win8 to load the metro bootmenu because there is no room for it in the boot sector, therefore if win7 is chosen, it has to set the bootloader to boot into win7 by the BCDEdit /bootsequence command, and then reboot to get out of win8 drive and unload all win8 boot files
