If 2012 is the end, can I put myself in the good eyes of the Lord by buying genuine software. Also can I safely spend all my savings.

According to Microsoft Netherlands windows "next" will be released about 2 years from now.
Windows 7 was realeased in october 2009 and milestone 1 was given to partners in december 2007.
Windows 8 in 2 years (october 2012) and milestone 1 will be given to partners in??? (december 2010? There is still hope :D)

Also software developers and hardware manufacturers need an early windows next build. 2000 and xp have almost the same kernel, and the same for vista and 7, this means that for 7 in most cases they only needed to make small changes in software/drivers. Windows next will be something different again (7.0?), so an early build is much more needed than it was for 7.

Steve Balmer also said that the most risky product MS is working on is windows next. This could be the x64 only scenario, or something more radical.

So if the end 2012 deadline is correct, it's getting time something working is presented to partners.

I expect a windows next build before the end of 2010, and hopefully a leak too.

EDIT: Next month there's a keynote, Microsoft will probably show a windows 8 tablet there. (c'mon, LEAK)
