    I'm not referring to a specific case; It's for personal "culture".

    As you talk about an BIOS OEM Key, yes. it matters! BIOS OEM Key's are found in Laptops and Netbooks only at this time.

    So if it's a desktop PC I need the Key to type during installation, but if it's a notebook will not be required, right?

    For laptop that came with windows 8 installed

    1. No as long as you choose the correct SKU[Edition]

    2. You will either have UEFI or BIOS with MSDM table that contains the key, so partition has nothing to do with activation.

    3. On same laptop you can install and activate any number of times.

    4. Yes possible



    if you are speaking of just one desktop then you can service your image with the below command

    The key is present in BIOS/UEFI, so you don't need to worry about deleting partition.
