Just seems odd to me since Win7 is obviously the closest choice and imo the safest bet.

For me, xp video and audio drivers are better than win 7 drivers, some times the older drivers are better the newer drivers too. It all depend on what cards and what kind of computer you have. I just tried to install them one by one, and then pick the best one from there ....

    yep,

but if you use xp drivers(WDDM1.0) you won't get aero available.
Install drivers in 7 compatibility mode is the nearest way to be sure device working with all w8 features, moreover we are goin' to expect new drivers(kernel now is 6.2) for w8.

The older drivers maybe are better(i don't think so), but you'll never get full functionality of a new OS

XP wasn't WDDM 1.0. Vista was WDDM 1.0. XP uses completely different video drivers and are not compatible with Windows 7/8. Likewise with audio drivers and network drivers.

The simple fact is, this is an alpha (pre-beta) operating system, and you're lucky it works properly at all! Its feature deficient, and doesn't include a lot of the features which will make Windows 8 shine. It can't be updated, is already prone to (by next Tuesday) at 8 months of security holes plus possibly any new ones introduced in Windows 8. Its definitely not meant to be used on a production machine, I find it funny people are trying to use it more commonly than even the official beta testers!

    uhm......sayed a bull***t, sorry, i remembered wrong... :(

confirm, in this stage, with new kernel, is impossible to determine how fix the problems, you can only try with different versions of drivers(in different compat. mode....mean XP drivers in xp mode asf...)

the system is fast and stable, with no bsod at all, so why do not it use it....knowing of course that maybe some hardware or software not working properly...
othervise what we are doing here.... trying and digging onto win8 builds:D

If I go above 1280 x 1040 - my monitor goes out of range!

No major problems here on 7959 with NVIDIA drivers, and I have 270.61 on my desktop and laptop. The only issue on my desktop is that it will BSOD on log off, but I hardly ever do that anyway so I'm not really too bothered about sitting down and debugging it.

Sandboxie and Alcohol 120% (sptd) drivers doesn't work on my x86 build 7955.
Nvidia drivers are working for me without any problems.
Audiotrack drivers for prodigy hd2 are working (installed with Win7 compatibility mode).

Wireless drivers in Win 8 7955

    Hi all,
I gave installing the latest leak a shot, but found that trying to install wireless drivers failed. The setup program returned an error to the effect of "This version of Windows is not supported." Any ideas? Computer is an Asus 1201n, with a realtek 8191se card.

Is there a version of the driver that can be installed manually?

I noticed (this may be off topic) that my wireless drivers would install, but seemed to be dropping connection when I was streaming.
