Did you miss this one? Try this..

Enable ugly guy with "Ctrl + Alt + Del" Welcome screen:
To get the CTRL ALT DEL-screen, press WIN + R, type control userpasswords2 and press enter.
Then check the CTRL + Alt + Del option on the second tab.

W8 7955 in VirtualBox critical error

hi i just downloaded W8 build 7955 from forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/26353-LEAK-Microsoft-Windows-8-pre-M3-6.2.7955.0-on-BA! (link here but i have done under 20 posts so cant post)

    (the torrent one)

i installed it on VB with windows 7 settings (512mb ram, 20gb hdd, etc)

it installed alright (i think) then it rebooted as it should do but then i got an error message saying there had been a critical error and VB went into meditation guru mode

in VB before the critical error happened this came up
i53.tinypic.com/n48was.jpg (image here but i have done under 20 posts so cant post)

has this happened to anyone else and if it has how did u fix it

if you want to see the log i can upload it

    Virtual box works with M1

Initially I was failed to install the win 8 M1 in Virtual box.
Then I have done following things:
    1. Internet enabled
    2. Version - Other windows
    3. No change of Display memory.

    now it works.

I've been running the 7955 builds as vhd (install.wim->7955.vhd via imagex/WAIK) and found most of the early Red Pill/slc.dll replacement patched voided the license for vhd use. No idea why personally, but I haven't been keen to try the Blue Pill or other patches since. The trouble always seemed to come with the slc.dll/slx.dll changes, all the other files could be edited or changed but toying with those 2 locked it out.

Anyone else trying these builds in vhd? From what I understand it's how M$ intended pre-beta builds to be tested.

Just a theory: Wasn't the early Red Pill/slc.dll from a Vista Beta build? If so that might explain why it stops working with that patch since it would be fom early/pre-vhd days. Maybe?

I installed this build on a vhd yesterday an applied the blue pill patch to it. No problems at all with that.

Seems to be that way. :g:

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to give the Blue Pill a go and see how it turns out.

I have had no luck after trying vmware or virtualbox with tweaked settings.. Is this confirmed working on a physical pc? I have an old p4 box it can go on, but i'd like to know before i wipe it out.

Thanks to the one who leaked the recent build btw.

I would suggest you try this first if you have a box already running Windows 7 :

    windows 8 geek. com/2011/04/install-windows-8-in-a-virtual-machine-bootable-vhd/

it's worked better for me than any other option. Even my Acer Aspire One can do this with ease and it really gives the build a chance to shine.
