Windows 8/Server Virtualization

Vbox with Win8

Hello everyone,

I got Win8 to work in Vbox, but has anyone got the tools to install on Vbox and Win8? If so please let me know as my USB does not want to show up and I think I have to install the tools before it can.

Any idea how to make Aero work in oracle Virtual Box? Additionally When I go to change Window Color and appearance it says "Desktop Composition is disabled". I have already turned on the Desktop Experience feature and Themes service is running.

Im gonna go install it on a VHD, i dont trust it with a partition

install graphic drivers and in server manager (first icon in taskbar) go to enable windows features and check desktop experience + audio and video something something...

 

I'm running as a VM. Desktop Experience is already installed! Audio is working. Is there a way to directly turn desktop composition on?

 

Not sure, when i had that message i installed my video drivers and it went away.So i'm not sure what you'll have to do in a vm

 

I did a VHD install last night (see tut @ BA) & after going through it for a day, deleted the VHD file off the Hdd & modified the boot menu back to as before.

I didn't really like this build, even though I installed it using only the extracted "install.wim" after booting to the newly created VHD (a new type of install for me).

*all 8 GB of memory showed up which was nice.

 

How can I install the vbox tools in Win 8 7955? I tried and it tells me it can not, then i did it in compat. mode for win 7 and it started but then gave me an error. Any ideas?

 

Has anyone tried it in HyperV?

 

My CPU is Intel P7450, and it does not support hardware virtualization.Oh,god!

 

VirtualBox Network Connection

Hey, first post so sorry if it's crappy, but...

Running Windows 8 7955 in the latest version of VirtualBox, and I cannot get and internet/network connection, pretty sure it's a driver issue, but can't seem to figure out how to install them without getting an error, any help would be much appreciated.

You mean the guest additions?

If I run in comparability mode I get an Unknown Error when trying to install the first driver. I can get the specific error if you like?
Is there some sort of command line install that can be used? It mentions something about command line install on windows on the VirtualBox site.

Edit: Nevermind, changed the adaptor and it works, thanks anyway

 

Build 7989 successfully installed on VirtualBox. Guest Addons still incompatible though. Can't get the virtual graphics drivers to go widescreen.

 

windows 8 x64 B7989 in virtual machine

hi

anyone able to run win8x64 B7989 on virtual machine, VM player, virtulabox, VPC?

I have tried all 3 and get different errors

VM player gives Monitor_PANIC error and stops.
Virtual box: can't run in root mode, it thinks i have another VM running but i don't, all my existing vms are power down.
VPC: can't load x64, or something like this.

any suggestions ?

bring up TaskManager and kill vpc.exe, then you can use VirtualBox.
