StartIsBack still loads metro UI. You meant Ex7forW8. FxxkMetro also kills metro.

It's not in the poll because it was added later to the list and the poll couldn't be modified.

Appearance is different but functionality is same without any cost  Use can search or browse store apps easily.

Pokki is a great app. I have used it in Pro RTM x64. Its look is good and feels native to Windows 8, though I haven't used their app store. The only problem I had with Pokki was slightly heavy and slow response on first click even after previous use. Perhaps it refresh its contents on each click on its taskbar icon.

I'd really like the fully default Windows 7 Explorer like that by Tihy, but with a skin like that of Start8 which fits perfectly. I hope later we will find one.

For now, I'm sticking with Classic Shell.

@boyfriend, yeah, I tried it and to be honest, the appearance looks a little amateurish, but I'm thankful; it's free.

Currently Classic Shell is only free application which provide this functionality. Authors will surely improve this functionality in future releases....

It's no longer 'freeware', it has been changed into trialware.

Startisback is by far the best of all the choices. Yea, its no longer freeware but its $3!!! Hopefully people wont complain about it being $3. If they do, they just need to :censored: themselves.

Not everything good in life is free :bye1:

    +1

Actually, M$ has left some of the Start Menu code in Windows 8 but Tihy discovered this and replaced the missing parts. :)

    Edit:

There's no app that'll be able to do that, Win8 would need a whole rewrite to bring Aero back.

That is not true. If you can have transparency for with Windows Task bar and start menu after using a Start Orb inserter (Such as Startisback) which uses resources M$ left in the OS, it is absolutely possible.
